I just got my new Kodak Zi6 today and am pretty excited to start using it to make fun little videos. I got it after wanting to get a Flip Mino for a while but decided to go with the Zi6 from Kodak because it encodes natively to H.264 .MOV files instead of the .AVI files that the Flip creates. Also, the Kodak Zi6 shoots in "HD," which doesn't mean a whole lot, but I do enjoy that it shoots in 16:9 for the HD and HD60 modes (HD and HD60 are 720p at 30 and 60fps respectively). I have by no means done exhaustive or scientific testing of the camera and since I just started playing with it this evening, all the footage I shot was done inside the condo. I hope to do some outdoor testing tomorrow and give the camcorder a full run through. There have been some reports on the intrawebs that the lack of image stabilization is an issue for the Zi6 and so far I've yet to be able to confirm this, but honestly I'm not sure any handheld portable camcorder has such a thing. I guess it's a matter of opinion to a certain extent and if you want to compare footage I'd suggest checking out the zi6 tag at Vimeo and taking a look at some various videos. Below are some sample clips I took tonight.
