I don't know about you, but I was becoming a huge fan of the Muxtape site, a place where one could upload mp3s from your computer and create your own mp3 mixtape. It was great for hearing what other people like and discovering new music. Music that I would later buy for myself (Someone get the RIAA to read that last sentence). Well, as all things musical that violate copyrights do, it was shutdown by the RIAA, or if we are to believe the message on the site, "Muxtape will be unavailable for a brief period while we sort out a problem with the RIAA." I'm thinking it's more shut down for good, so luckily I heard about a similar piece of web software called Opentape that does the same thing, except you host it yourself and serve up the mp3s from your own server, instead of using Amazon S3 like Muxtape (which is pretty cool). I've got mine set up at davidcintron.org and I invite you to go and listen to some of the mp3s I'm currently enjoying.
